This blog provides a forum for students, instructors and others to share information and ideas about the Spring Thesis Program at Parsons the New School for Design in New York City.
Rob, I am not going to say much, because I have commented on this material already, and you know that I think that this is a very strong thesis idea, and that your research is going in a very good direction. I just had a look at Amy Vanderbilt, and on the page that I happened to look, there was a statement that, when a gay couple adopt a baby, they should send out an announcement with both their names on it. I was pretty surprised that there was any mention at all of gay etiquette; it must be an updated version of the book. I am certain that in the 1960's there would be no mention of that subject at all. It would be very interesting to do a comparison of the updated version to the original one, to see how social rules have changed over the years in response to demographics. steven http://www.amazon.com/Amy-Vanderbilt-Complete-Book-Etiquette/dp/0385413424
