Elias,
This is very exciting. I totally agree with you that the use of dogs for many jobs is growing. There's an article in today's New York Times that talks about the latest research into canine cognition.

According to this article, dogs are smarter than we think, and they are well equipped to do certain jobs. Some very smart dogs can learn the meanings of hundreds of words. This intelligence, combined with a natural desire to please their human owner means that we can rely no them for many important roles. If there were products that could be used to help trainers understand how to best communicate with dogs, I would bet that many excellent products could emerge.
