As a food lover, nothing can be more problematic for me than a poor-quality diet. The eating pattern has been dramatically shifted in the past decades: The fast-paced lifestyle has encouraged people adopting a fast eating behavior. Meal skipping, overeating, and eating on impulse are commonly seen. The preferable choice of food is often directed by the rank of convenience. This type of eating causes not only health problems but, most importantly, the disappearance of gracious dining.
Some people have been concerning about this issue by establishing Slow Food organization. Its missions are defending biodiversity in food supply, spread taste education, and connect quality food producers and co-producers, whom we usually refer as discerning customers. It developed various programs to address the above issues, such as the following examples:
Ark of taste: Rediscovers and publicizes the forgotten flavors.
University of gastronomic: Offers a multidisciplinary program in the science and culture of food.
University of gastronomic: Offers a multidisciplinary program in the science and culture of food.
Slow food in supported internationally by its members. That is, the problem of eating pattern is gradually recognized and desired to be solved worldwide.
