Wow, Samta, I really enjoyed reading your posting. by the way, it's better if you post your text and images rather than posting a jpg image.

First of all, your writing is excellent, with clear ideas spelled out in a direct way, with the minimum of flourish, but a noticeable style. The sketches are also very nice, and I can see that you are are a person of ability and high standards. I am also excited about your plans to really learn about this craft tradition, and think about ways to both preserve it and update it. I am somewhat uneasy about the parts of your proposal that involve lots of direct participation from the few craftspeople left. It's extremely important to go there, understand the environment in which they have lived while developing these craft traditions. I think you need to take a lot of pictures, interview the craftspeople, learn about their process and the subtleties of their designs and document everything scrupulously. You should also go to the local university and try to learn more about the history of the craftsmen and their methods. It could be an amazing opportunity to do something that no one else is doing.
