Jake, unfortunately, I think you are on to something with this topic. while I know that everyone is supposed to be very upbeat and optimistic, I find it difficult to not allow my mind to go to the possible outcomes of the current "downturn". I think that death is going to become a very timely subject, which is ironic and tragic, considering that humanity has made such amazing progress in terms of increasing life expectancy, reducing hunger, etc. Of course, as with other tragedies, the American way is to figure out how to make a profit from it, so I encourage you to go forth and develop a product that capitalizes on the morbid preoccupations of the current moment.
Having said that, I am still unsure about what you are proposing to do, so you need to get more specific about how you intend to focus on death in your thesis. There are many different aspects that you could pursue, some of which you hint at in your list ("dental care"?) steven
