Violaine de Pourtales - La Table
FEEDBACK :
-Need to change name of project -"La table"
Below is a summary of the feedback of what I need to work on:
Alfred Zollinger (interior designer)
- La table has good proportions aesthetically and dimensionally for small apartments
-la table needs to be generic in some way but not too generic- need to look at Helad Jougerious
- I need to think about both experiences- what if I need something from the desk when using dining table?
-how about adding felt inside the drawers of the dining table to keep silver clean.
Steven
-Think of adding a lock or clever release
-would put drawers on the side
-leveler on bottom of feet- felt?
Friend of Steven
-Memory Stick storage or pen holder?
Kerry
-Hinge where table breaks is crucial- think of load bearing
- I need to look at Forbo Desktop Manuolium, Moffot and Selbys for research
Jennifer
-Hinge where table breaks is crucial to concider- what if water spills on dining table I need to make sure it doesn't touch laptop that is underneath.
-Eating aera is a messy surface with food and water and work aera is a clean surface
PJ
-Minimize mechanical hardware for table to be more durable
-work on legs and stretcher
-Hinge where the table break is crucial.
Len
-I have to communicate my ideas and what I envision better. I need to explain my focus and all the details so the person sees and understand what I am trying to say. I need to explain what I believe and see. For example, I need to explain how the table breaks in half for a quick transition, the proportions and dimensions that need to be elegant and efficient, what the compartments are for, the soft edges...I need to use the mockup and show what I am talking about with my hands.
-I need to improve my board- too much writing and the images are confusing because I need to show more the story of how it goes from dining table to desk (first the dining table, the dining table that opens to become a desk, the desk, and the back view of the dining table with the drawers that pull out)

Hi Violaine,
I agree with a lot of the comments, especially those from Len. I believe that your project requires very clear instructions for use and excellent promotional materials that explain its use(s). You should focus on showing us how La Table solves many different problems encountered by city dwellers; this can be done by use scenarios that illustrate its various configurations, and diagrams that show how it could be used in a variety of apartments. I recommend creating a series of plan views of typical apartments, then showing how the table would become the central piece of furniture in each one, simliar to your earlier studies where you drew a tape line on the floor in many different apartments. In the future, I predict that we will no longer have separate offices and abodes, and we will need better ways to both live and work in the same small place. Therefore, your project is perfectly positioned to help people accomplish this dual function. So, your project needs to emphasize how it facilitates this through clear graphics and text information. It is less important to build the actual full scale prototype than it is to make convincing animations or web sites to show how it would be converted, and really convincing dynamic media that illustrates your concepts by showing the table in context. Just looking at the table by itself doesn't really help us to understand the power of this piece of furniture to help its owners reinvent themselves as we move forward into a new era.
