Roberto Fantauzzi Spring '10 Mid Semester Review Board & Feedback

Lenny Librizzi (Exernal Partner – Grow NYC)
• Likes the project very much – thought it was very compelling
• He gave his children objects (such as figures, marbles, etc.) to hold for
times when they were feeling nervous. They would keep in pocket and
grab them to concentrate
• Look into super growing pellets to include soil with the product (It is an
item I had already looked into but have yet to decide if it would be included
with product.)
• Research seed viability
• Seed paper in shape of a heart as well as leaf
• Thought the craft on the figure was very well done
• Appreciated that it represents a human figure even though it is not an
obvious person
• Re-think name of project

Mary Howard
• Thought the project has come a long way
• Look into testing with grieving organizations and look into Make-A-Wish
Foundation
• Send product to different organizations for free, requesting for feedback in
exchange – without me being present

Phillip Bodum
• Really enjoyed the concept of growing seeds
• Challenge is to test the product

Jennifer Carpenter
• Need to have a fully functioning working prototype to test and get
feedback
• Packaging needs to directly link/relate to product
• Thought the figure was very nicely made/crafted
• Show process and walk people through the prototype to get feedback

William Niemeier
• Thought he prototype was “exquisitely” crafted
• Discussed how to go about creating and building plastic part of figure

Dylan (Art /Design critic student from NYU)
• Thought the project was “beautiful”
• Enjoyed the concept of the seeds
• Appreciates the grieving aspect related to children and really sees the
connection between growing plants and healing

Patty Beirne
• Important to show process and activities for each of the healing
steps/growing of the plant
• Was worried that the figure was going to resemble too closely to KidRobot
toys but thinks I have found a unique design of my own that fits into
KidRobot world but does not resemble it
• Focus on testing full prototype next

Mark Bechtel
• Include proven case studies as it will only help support my argument of
using nature and growing plants to heal emotionally

Matt Hoey
• Look into cell phone that includes a sunflower seed embedded into casing
(reminder to recycle plastic of phone)
• Feels that the materials need to be more integrated into the design
• Wishes the entire object was translucent
• Get rid of all of the words on the board and just show the product as it
should speak for itself
• Product wants to become more intuitive
• Too much information – it is important to have it all – but take it away and
it should all be reveal through object

Joanne Ngai
• Really enjoyed the concept of growing seeds
• Thought it was a very sweet concept and likes the emotion behind it
• Wants to keep one of the figures

Sarah (Pratt Industrial Design Student)
• Likes the fact that the figure can be used as a meditation object after the
process of healing had been performed
• Otherwise thought it would have been a let down and anti-climatic

Heico Wesselius
• Found it compelling and interesting
• Needs further testing
• Enjoyed and appreciated how precedents have informed design
