- Find more about the programs for children
- Material exploration
- Narrow down the target age of the children
- What happens after mothers are released?
- Think of the process from prison to foster care to children
- Design the whole system of how the product is going to work (how is it different from existing frames?)

Hi Yoomi,
sorry that I did not get a chance to come over and speak with you at last week's review. I like your idea of creating a product specifically for use by children of incarcerated mothers. Your research is convincing: more contact with their children, and a greater awareness on how the mother's actions affect her kids, may result in reduced recidivism. If it is effective, this is a product that would pay for itself very quickly, because the cost (both monetary and societal) of keeping people in prison is very high.

I would like to know more about the weaving product you have in mind. You said that you expect the child and mother to both work independently on weaving parts of a large project. They would put all of the pieces that they make together during periodic visits. I am wondering if another way to do it would be for the mother to do some work on the project, then mail it to the child who would do some more work, then mail it back to the mom, and so on. This is a little like the game "Exquisite Corpse", where people create a story or picture collaboratively, which funny or outrageous results.

Hi Steven,
I have thought about sending the weaving part back and forth so that both can create one piece, but the money is a big issue with inmate, and also, many are not allowed to send packages so I thought if they would like to exchange their work, they could do it in person when they meet together. But I will be brainstorming more on the process and designing better frame so that it is easier for both of them to work on and connect together.
