This blog provides a forum for students, instructors and others to share information and ideas about the Spring Thesis Program at Parsons the New School for Design in New York City.
Very nice review of these two projects. You have clearly analyzed and seen the strengths of them both. I think you are correct in your recognition that Lin's furniture solution could become a system of furniture design and manufacture. What would you need to do in order to further this as a system? What are the elements of this design that could be adjustable and repeatable? There are some grammatical errors in your writing - please proofread and/or go to the Writing Center for help with these issues throughout the semester. It will make your communication clearer and easier by keeping the focus on your ideas and not on language. Plus, as your assignments increasingly contribute to your thesis proposal, you will want to have content that does not need heavy editing at the end of the semester. Spending the time week by week will save you the time when you most need it!
Good job on the content of the assignment. I look forward to hearing more about what opportunities you will identify as a designer in the coming weeks and how you will ask the big questions needed to make a social and design innovation.
