Hi Angela,
Thanks for posting information about your prototyping exercise. What did you learn here, and how does this change your plans for the thesis project? It seems to me that you have found a good direction and a real answer to the question of what to do about sex trafficked girls being returned to their homes: if you can identify a practical craft that these kids can do once they get back, they may be able to earn enough to be able to avoid finding themselves back in the same horrible situation again. I like the idea of developing a craft technique that is not focused on just making more souveniers for tourists, but rather on creating raw materials that local builders might be able to use to create houses and schools very cheaply. By involving these young women as laborers and artisans producing bricks that can be used in making buildings, perhaps you will produce a win-win, where girls save their own lives and at the same time contribute to rebuilding their country that has been destroyed by men.

Now, you need to work very hard and fast to develop a building system that can take advantage of this new kind of brick. I assume that your role will be to design the system and then to produce molds and instruction manuals that the girls can use to set up an operation to manufacture bricks out of old newspaper. There are some good resources about how a system like this could work. Please let me know how I can be useful to you as you go forward with this excellent idea.
